Tucker Nature Preserve was purchased by DeKalb County in 2002 through the efforts of DeKalb County Commissioner Lou Walker at the urging of local residents. Sadly, Commissioner Walker died in an auto accident three weeks after the park’s dedication in 2004.
The park sat undeveloped until 2011, when the “Friends of Tucker Nature Preserve” was formed through collaboration between Park Pride and DeKalb County. Since then, with the help of many volunteers and community groups, the Preserve has transformed from a closed, undeveloped lot into a beautiful, popular family-friendly Tucker destination. The park was purchased by the City of Tucker in April 2018. The Friends of Tucker Nature Preserve is looking forward to working with the City to continue our great work!
Come out for a visit and check out all the progress we’ve made!
